SPRING PREVIEW

Piperlime Dress c/o // Piperlime Shirt c/o // J.Crew Flats // Marc Jacobs Watch // Madewell Bag

So, remember when I used to update this blog?  It's ok, I don't either.  Despite the major break, the weather was more than perfect over the weekend and called for a peek at spring. And like usual, there will be lots of white, lace and dresses going on around here.  I just can't help myself when it comes to white in lace or eyelet, and who could blame me?

Check out Piperlime for more inspiration and #momentsofchic.

DOUBLE THE PATTERN, DOUBLE THE FUN

Eshakti Skirt c/o // Madewell Tank // Madewell Bag // Anthropologie Booties, Similar

I'm sure we can all think of times in our lives when we didn't realize what we had until it was gone.  Those can definitely be some tough moments.  However, there are also times when you don’t know something is missing until you find it.  That my friends, is the story behind this skirt.  Eshakti contacted me recently to see if I would be interested in receiving an item from them.  After taking a look at their site I was so excited to receive this skirt. Their sizes range from 0-36 and they are customizable.  Meaning, your skirt, jacket, top, etc... will be exact to your measurements taking any possible tailoring and extra costs out of the equation. For example, this skirt had 3 different options for lengths which comes as a much-welcomed option for those of us on the shorter side.

I really wanted to pair this skirt with a cozy sweater but due to the weather (see there I go again), I opted for a cropped stripe tank to add a bit more interest.  Next time I'll try for something cozier, assuming it ever cools down here!  I couldn’t be happier with this skirt and the entire Eshakti shopping experience—it is definitely something you should try out. And now, for the next month (until 11/10) Eshakti is offering a discount to you guys!  Just enter "topitoffmel" when you check out to receive 10% off your purchase!

TRICKS NO TREATS

Forever 21 Tank, Similar // Anthropologie Shorts, Anthropologie Booties, Love These! // Color By Amber Bracelet // Madewell Bag // Ray-Ban Sunglasses

I'm sure you're over me droning on like a broken record about the heat but seriously, this heat has got to stop!  This past weekend we received some much-needed help from family on what seems to be an insurmountable amount of yard work and I'm pretty sure we were all close to melting.  For now,  I think we will be procrastinating  on the yard work until the temperatures drop to something more reasonable.  I suppose I should be used to fall in Southern California but the pictures of changing leaves and hearing about the crisp fall air makes me wish for something more.  So despite wanting to wear all my cute fall clothes I'm stuck in shorts and a tank.  I threw booties on to try and trick my feet into thinking we had some cooler weather.

SUN & SUNFLOWERS

UO Top, Similar // Asos Shorts (on sale!) // J.Crew Wedges // Madewell Sunnies // Sabine Necklace via Piperlime

Months before my trip to Hawaii I found different shorts, rompers, dresses and shoes that I just had to have for vacation.  These shorts, for example, I just had to have.  It was as if I couldn't go to Hawaii without them.  The thing you realize though, once you're in Hawaii is that you spend 98% of your time in bathing suits, cover ups and comfy clothes.    So when the last night rolled around and these were still in my large pile of clothes that hadn't been worn I knew what I had to do.  I was quite overdressed for the occasion but no regrets here.

I just love the bold print paired with crisp white and tan skin.  Nothing screams summer more than bronzed legs and short shorts.

Hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July!

HAGGLER

Ily Couture Cardigan // Skargorn Tee // Madewell Jeans // J.Crew Loafers // Madewell Sunnies // c/o Rakani Watch  // c/o Color By Amber Bracelet

Nine times out of ten when I'm getting ready, the clothes go on and then it's bracelet time, and as you know, I don't generally shy away from stacking them on.  It just feels right when I hear the jingle jangle of them clanking together.  This Color By Amber cuff was the perfect complement to the other bracelets I was wearing.  Plus, I didn't have to think of any others to wear with it since it's such a statement, and I always love that!

I wore this simple outfit last week to my nephew's VIP day since it was just a casual morning at his school.  He got to take me around his classroom and show me what he has been up to this year.  I saw all of his paintings and drawings around the classroom and let me tell you, this kid is quite the artist. There was one in particular I immediately envisioned hanging in my house so I asked him if I could have it. He almost agreed but the money-hungry kid that he is decided to try and make five bucks off me.  I took the bait and agreed to pay him five dollars for it.  He then upped the price to twenty.  So much for being a VIP... Good thing I love that kid.

PRINTS ALL OVER

PRINTED

Asos Top & Shorts // Madewell Top // House of Harlow Sandals // TOPSHOP Skirt // J.Crew Shorts // J.Crew Bathing Suit Top & Bottom //Anthropologie Dress

I have been wearing a lot of solid neutrals lately but all I have wanted to shop for is prints, prints, and more prints.  There's just something about spring that makes me (and I think almost everyone) gravitate towards an outfit full of color and print.  I actually already scooped up the sunflower two piece set from Asos and can't wait to wear it both together and separately.  Is there anything you guys have had your eyes set on so far this Spring?

OLDIES

H&M Top // Old Navy Skirt, Similar // Gap Sandals // J.Crew Bag // Windsor Hat // Madewell Sunglasses

This was the perfect light and airy combo for a relaxing and warm (almost 90 degrees!) Saturday.  Neutral colors and a bold lip is my perfect combo for Spring.  I'm pretty sure I've said this before but I love the beginning of a season because all your oldies seem like newbies because they haven't been worn in so long.  Combinations you never thought of before suddenly come to life and it's all free!

Any combos you're looking to wearing this Spring?!

BOOTIES > SANDALS

Madewell Blouse // Ily Couture Cardigan // UO Jeans // Hudson Booties // J.Crew Clutch

I went through a phase a couple of summers ago where I would continuously paint my nails.  I bought all sorts of nail polish and religiously painted both my fingernails and toenails.  I don't know why I used to have so much time on my hands but nowadays it seems my toenails are usually chipped to no end. And my fingernails only ever get whatever color I've recently sampled at the store.  All of that to say I am dreading spring because of the sandals that come with it and the subsequent time I'll have to spend painting at least those ten toenails.  So for now I am more than happy about our (first) rain storm of the season and the booties I will continue to wear.
