This was the perfect light and airy combo for a relaxing and warm (almost 90 degrees!) Saturday.  Neutral colors and a bold lip is my perfect combo for Spring.  I'm pretty sure I've said this before but I love the beginning of a season because all your oldies seem like newbies because they haven't been worn in so long.  Combinations you never thought of before suddenly come to life and it's all free!

With Christmas right around the corner I thought a gift guide was only necessary.  This one is for the everyday girl with a little punch.  Not too cool not too sweet.  Some of these are definitely my favorite things and some are things I have never tried (the nars lip pencil, so cool!) This is what the inside of my suitcase looks like right about now.  Lots of neutrals, leather details, booties, and some scarves.  My plan is to mix and match.  I'm only gone for an extended weekend (4 full days) but I'm an over packer so you better believe there is more than I can wear inside.

Last year at this time I had long and beautiful hair and lately I have been missing it.  I would put my long hair in one single braid and absolutely loved the look of it.  My hair can't do that anymore, so as an ode to my old long hair I put a little french braid on the side.  It's not the same but it's something, you know?  I know I sound dramatic but I sure have been missing that hair...

In the fall (and generally winter) this is totally my "go-to" look.  A comfy sweater, a pair of skinny's and either a flat or heeled bootie.  I just don't think you can go wrong with this combo.  I generally keep it pretty neutral with little pops here and there.

I just ordered these booties and cannot wait for them to arrive.  I'm pretty sure they'll jazz up any old outfit.  I'm so excited for fall clothes!  What's your "go-to" as the weather starts to cool off?

With the unbearable summer heat we have been experiencing it has become nearly impossible to start dressing in some of my fall faves, let alone transition pieces.  So, I wore this.  My husband thought I looked like Hawaiian room decor and that was alright by me.  

Hope you had a wonderful labor day weekend and soaked up the rest of the summer sun!  I didn't, I soaked up the AC and boy did it feel good!

Seriously though, that baseball cap is killing it.  I tried it on and let me tell you, big mistake.  My head needs it but my wallet can't afford.  Such a sad realization.  But damn, it looks so good.  The other things on here are cute too.  But nothing compares, in price or beauty.

As you already know, I love chambray.  You could probably catch me wearing one multiple times in a week.  So when I found this one at Target with the FEED collection it was a no brainer, it was coming home with me.  Plus it's a great cause that helps feed (obviously) those in need.  

On another note, I'm finally back to regular posting.  These last few weeks have been somewhat hectic but I am back and refreshed.  But how can you not be after a trip with the most beautiful views.  Sad to be back to reality to quick but happy for the time away!

SHORTS EVERYDAY

In case you haven't noticed, but I don't think there's a way you haven't, shorts have been on very heavy rotation lately.  There is just something so summery about a pair of shorts and a tank top.  Plus with the hot and humid weather we have been having here lately I don't see much of an option.  Also, hooray for me!  My toenails are painted.  That's quite the accomplishment over here.  All toes are the same color and they aren't chipping.  It won't last long but it's happening now.  You can find the color here.  When the temperatures rise what's your go-to piece in your closet?

HAIR FEELINGS

I know what you're thinking, "she said she cut her hair!".  While the difference might not seem apparent to you... the face framing layers have made quite the difference in my feelings about my hair.  They have completely thrown me off darnit!  I always prefer those times when I can blame my hair stylist for not cutting my hair the way I wanted, but this time my friends, it was all me.  She did exactly what I asked for.  I think what it comes down to is that I showed her a picture of the hair I wanted and then I didn't turn into the girl in the picture.  Not her fault.  I guess you could say my expectations were too high?  I mean she's a hair stylist not a god.  But I will tell you right now, lesson not learned.  It will be the same exact thing next time.

Also, this right here is my new jumpsuit, aka daytime pajamas.

I feel like any day I'm in a rut with my clothes, you know, where I sit there in front of my closet on the verge of a tantrum, I just need to remember that if I put a chambray shirt on with basically anything everything will be alright.  So that's how these old giraffe shorts plus a chambray became an outfit.  This is the very first chambray I bought (totally vintage J.Crew) that at one point I gave to my sister.  I then decided that while she was out of town I was going to steal it back because that's what sisters do of course.  She didn't notice until I wore it around her but she couldn't very well take it off my back could she?  So now I'm hoping I'll get to keep it.  I mean it was mine after all...

Oops, my bad.  Apparently it's a bad idea to take an afternoon nap in the dress you're wearing.  More wrinkles than I ever could have expected. Lesson learned!  Good thing that nap was so good!

So here's the thing.  I love this dress.  It's perfect, well minus the wrinkles, because when you wanna colorblock it's already done!  And you know how I love an outfit that's already thought out for me.  I also added the belt but you can read about why here! We did a little shopping on Saturday and a dress is always the perfect way to get in and out when trying things on!

This is one of those outfits that when I got ready in the morning I thought "Ok, looks good".  Only to realize after taking pictures that a long day of work can make an outfit you thought was cute early in the morning something you really would have rather passed on.  Don't get me wrong, I do love this skirt but the hair is flat and the whole thing is just not working.  Regardless, the pictures are posted because everyday is not a perfect outfit kind of day.  Next time, instead of coming up with the outfit in the morning when I'm in a rush to leave maybe I'll actually try it on the night before.  Probably not, but maybe....
