A GROWTH OF SORTS

MinkPink Dress // J.Crew booties // J.Crew Clutch // Madewell Sunnies

This is one of those dresses that I found at a small boutique a while back but just didn't want to shell out the hundred bucks to make it mine.  So i relentlessly stalked it online at shopbop until it got marked down, then waited until it got marked down again and then finally pulled the trigger when they had an additional off markdowns.  That's a deal for the books I tell ya.  The old me would have bought it on the spot just to be able to see it in my closet a little sooner.  Now I prioritize the clothes in my life.  I've grown so much :)  I got my normal size but it runs a bit tight through the shoulders so if you're in between I would recommend going up!  I think it's the perfect dress for this transitional period we're in, and will be until mid to late November (at least in SoCal) so get your hands on it.

Hope you all have a great weekend!  I have no plans and it's just the way I like it!  What about you?

ONE WAY ONLY

 Madewell Top // Zara Skirt // J.Crew Bag // J.Crew Belt - Similar // J.Crew Wedges // J.Crew Bracelet

I wear a lot of skirts for work because they are an easy way to feel pulled together and cute.  However because I wear them to work I don't like to wear them any other time in my life because they are "work" skirts.  It seems like anytime I try to wear one for something else I don't like it because I have this fear that then I will have to go to work.  Silly, I know.  So I found this skirt and thought it was just too cute to pass up so I designated it my non-work skirt so I could be happy wearing it off the clock, and happy I am!  Do you have any pieces like that in your closet?  That no matter how cute they are you can only wear them for one part of your life?

FEED

FEED for Target Chambray // J.Crew Tank // Old Navy Shorts // J.Crew Bag // Gap Sandals - Similar // Anthropologie Watch

As you already know, I love chambray.  You could probably catch me wearing one multiple times in a week.  So when I found this one at Target with the FEED collection it was a no brainer, it was coming home with me.  Plus it's a great cause that helps feed (obviously) those in need.

On another note, I'm finally back to regular posting.  These last few weeks have been somewhat hectic but I am back and refreshed.  But how can you not be after a trip with the most beautiful views.  Sad to be back to reality to quick but happy for the time away!

RED, WHITE & CHAMBRAY

J.Crew Dress // H&M Chambray (My husbands) // J.Crew Belt // J.Crew Bag // Sam Edelman Sandals

I decided to get patriotic a little early this week.  I mean, what's more patriotic than a denim shirt?  Stripes, stripes are more patriotic.  My husband told me when I was wearing this that he couldn't figure out why women like jersey dresses because they are apparently unflattering.  While I suppose he has a point, when comfort is most important, flattery has to take a back seat.  And since we have been experiencing what I would say is a pretty major heat wave, comfort is definitely key.  It's the type of heat wave where people pile into the mall, not to buy anything, but to have someone else pay to cool them off.  I can't do that though because this time of year has those damn  summer sales and it's just too hard to say no.  So I let myself stay hot and just use this as my outlet where I let you all know the kind of weather I'm experiencing.  Hopefully one of these days I'll let go of my old man weather talk and actually talk about fashion, like a style blogger should, but please don't hold your breath.

RED LIPS & GOLD DETAILS

Madewell top, similar here & here // J.Crew shorts, similar here // J.Crew sandals // J.Crew bag // J.Crew link bracelet // Frosted Willow bangles // J.Crew & Madewell rings // J.Crew timex

Sometimes even the most casual of outfits calls for a red lip.  It instantly brightens up your face (which I needed due to my pale skin) and dresses the whole look up.  The first day of summer called for a BBQ with the parents, bon bons & fresh flowers.  Couldn't get better than that, right?

While I still often miss being a kid and the fun that comes along with it, growing up is pretty great because you appreciate your parents so much more than you ever did.  I'm feeling pretty lucky these days to have the amazing parents I do!

Also been doing lots of this lately. Hoping to see them results soon!

THIRD TIMES A CHARM

 Anthropologie Top // Madewell Shorts // J.Crew Bag // J.Crew Sandals // Target Watch // J.Crew, 1 & 2 Bracelet // Frosted Willow Bracelet

These J.Crew sandals are ones that I bought a couple years ago and have forever been a favorite in my closet.  The leather is tough which made them hard and slightly uncomfortable to break in, but once I did I took these babies all over town.  I wore them non-stop.  So much so that the bottom tore from the sole.  So when the chance came around to buy a second pair, I jumped on it and continued wearing them non-stop.  Then this past summer I moved and somehow in the mix of things, I lost my second pair.  I didn't realize it until this summer and was devastated thinking I would never see those perfect sandals again.

So one day I saw my friend Megan wearing her own pair of my beloved sandals and I expressed my love for them and something amazing happened.  The very next day she showed up with a fresh box and gave them to me (you should know that she has actually done this once before).  She happens to be my same size, very generous and has a tendency to buy multiples of things.  She gave me one of the greatest gifts... a third chance with my favorite leather sandals.  Now I just have to get through the process of breaking this pair in and I will once again be in summer sandal heaven.  I don't know how I will possibly repay her.  Maybe with redbull (her favorite drink).
