This time of year there is nothing that tops my wish list more than a cozy sweater.  It's the center and backbone to almost every outfit I wear.  The problem, however, is that a cozy sweater can lend itself to a less than impressive look if it's not done right and that's why having the right pieces and correct styling are very important.  It can take an outfit based around a sweater from boring to stylish just by adding the right pieces to it.  

Shoes are a close second on my wish list this time of year and can help take your look from lack luster to cool and cute.  The sneaker option above is perfect for the girl on the go while the black boots can dress her up.  The final touch to any outfit this time of year and what can really set a comfy sweater outfit apart, is adding a touch of glam with jewelry.  Both pairs of earrings are the perfect touch for any daytime look.

The problem I always run into when shopping for others is that I oftentimes want one for myself.  These looks above, while similar, are different enough that I could get away with buying one for her and one for me.  Total win-win if you ask me.

These last few weeks, and I'm sure a few to come, I have been going back from still dressing for summer and moving on to fall.  The weather here is still so warm and comfort is definitely still key for me.  I have had these denim trousers for so many years and have only worn them several time.  I couldn't tell you why because they are so light and comfortable.  Regardless, I wore them out for a casual dinner because nothing else felt right.  Hope you're weekend was full of fun!  Onto another week!

Simple outfit, awesome shoes.  That's what this outfit is all about.  I thought these booties were amazing when I saw them online  but I can assure you, they are better in person.  I knew they could transform an outfit but my life??  Ok, I kid.  But they are pretty cool.  Also, I can't stop wearing this skirt.  I've worn it 4 times in the last 2 weeks.  This outfit comes to you very highly recommended.

In other news, tomorrow is Friday and that is something to be happy about!

In the fall (and generally winter) this is totally my "go-to" look.  A comfy sweater, a pair of skinny's and either a flat or heeled bootie.  I just don't think you can go wrong with this combo.  I generally keep it pretty neutral with little pops here and there.

I just ordered these booties and cannot wait for them to arrive.  I'm pretty sure they'll jazz up any old outfit.  I'm so excited for fall clothes!  What's your "go-to" as the weather starts to cool off?

Seriously though, that baseball cap is killing it.  I tried it on and let me tell you, big mistake.  My head needs it but my wallet can't afford.  Such a sad realization.  But damn, it looks so good.  The other things on here are cute too.  But nothing compares, in price or beauty.

I decided to get patriotic a little early this week.  I mean, what's more patriotic than a denim shirt?  Stripes, stripes are more patriotic.  My husband told me when I was wearing this that he couldn't figure out why women like jersey dresses because they are apparently unflattering.  While I suppose he has a point, when comfort is most important, flattery has to take a back seat.  And since we have been experiencing what I would say is a pretty major heat wave, comfort is definitely key.  It's the type of heat wave where people pile into the mall, not to buy anything, but to have someone else pay to cool them off.  I can't do that though because this time of year has those damn  summer sales and it's just too hard to say no.  So I let myself stay hot and just use this as my outlet where I let you all know the kind of weather I'm experiencing.  Hopefully one of these days I'll let go of my old man weather talk and actually talk about fashion, like a style blogger should, but please don't hold your breath.

Having a margarita with dinner and then sitting down to try and write a post?  No bueno.  One too many, but can that be said when there is only one to speak of? The margarita was tasty though, I guess it just comes down to sacrifices... A drink wins each and every time.  So.... camo and pleats, I think that's all I've got for you today.  Girly + Edgy.  BOOM.

You know how some people are just a master of mixing prints?  They find a way to put them together so seemlessly it sometimes makes me think that I could have come up with it.  Well that's not me...  This is about as far as I take the print mix.  Same color, different prints, stick em together and voila!  You become a mix master of some sort.  Not quite as creative as some but it'll do the trick!  

FYI the sky is deceiving it wasn't that clear and beautiful out.

Well. once again I can't say enough good things about the weather this weekend.  Warm without being hot and the added bonus of a slight breeze.  We spent a good majority of it outside, going on walks and sitting outside enjoying some new reading material.  Over the last week we started and finished both seasons of Revenge-oops!  So now of course we feel very lost, hence the reason we each started reading.  

Anyway, back to clothes.  Jumper's are comfortable-like acceptable pajamas and make for an easy day of shopping.  I've had this one a long time and just remembered to pull it out again. If you're looking for one, this one and this one from Anthropologie and very cute!

This was one of those skirts, I guess I mean skorts (never thought I would utter that word after the 8th grade)... that I justified to myself because I said "oh... I'll probably return it".  So much so I even asked about the return policy just to be certain I would be able to, knowing all the while it would live very well in my closet.  And, I must say I'm glad I kept it, but of course I knew I would all along.  

Despite the initial shock of wearing a skort again, I think it's the perfect addition to my summer wardrobe because you can be all wild and free as if you're wearing shorts, yet feel classy and refined because it looks like a skirt.  Kind of like a mullet-business in the front, party in the back.  Another recommended buy!
