STRANGE CHANGES

Madewell Turtleneck // Piperlime Skirt, Similar // J.Crew Flats // Asos Coat, SimilarSimilarSimilar

For some reason I will never forget the year I turned 10 and someone gave me a gift card to Nordstrom.  I was so incredibly excited to go the mall and get to pick out my own outfit.  I remember the specific outfit I picked out too.  I chose leggings with small printed mice all over them, a matching turtleneck and sweatshirt with a giant mouse applique on the front.  I wore that outfit and I thought I was so cool.

Naturally, time progressed and I no longer thought that outfit was the coolest thing I'd seen and turtlenecks (especially printed ones) became a thing of the past.  I truly never thought I would wear a turtleneck again, but then I found this one from Madewell.  It's boxy which, as I'm sure you all know by now, is something I'm always a fan of.  I have to say, my opinions about turtlenecks may have changed.  There is just something so chic and unexpected about this turtleneck to me.  Maybe I will even come around to matching turtleneck sets, just don't hold me to it!

BLACK ON BLACK

Zara Top // J.Crew Jeans (on sale!) // J.Crew Heels // Madewell Bag // Anthropologie Bracelet // J.Crew Link Bracelet

Some days just call for an all black ensemble.  The exact day was Thanksgiving, and it wasn't an oversight.  A day full of eating calls for a slimming outfit, so all black it was!  Of course there's still room for a little leopard.

Can we talk for a minute about these jeans?  They are simply the best.  Soft, fitted, don't stretch out and they're under fifty bucks.  If I didn't just sell you on these guys then I don't know what will.

ALL DOLLED UP

J.Crew Dress // J.Crew Necklace // J.Crew Shoes // Madewell Bag

This time of year always calls to dress up any occasion (obviously).  That's why having a closet stocked with party dresses and a makeup bag full of lipstick is an absolute must.  I added this one to my collection recently and I'm so glad that I did.  I don't generally go for a drop waist hem but this one happened to fit perfectly (I did a petite)!

What's your go-to when your getting dressed up?

PRETTY IN PLAID

Piperlime Sweater // Forever 21 Skirt // Piperlime Heels, Similar // Rankani Watch // Ray-Ban Sunglasses

Like I said yesterday, cozy sweaters always top my go-to list.  When I saw the plaid print on this one I knew it had to get in my closet immediately.  Luckily it was on sale plus an additional 40% off and you can get that same great deal.  Now that's something to be thankful for this week.

Just kidding, there is so much more, I feel so thankful to be blessed with the family I have, friends who are like family and the ability to be surrounded by all of them.

Hope you get to celebrate with those you love!  Happy Thanksgiving!

ONE LOOK, TWO WAYS

holiday

Eleven Paris Sweater // Elizabeth Cole Earrings // Sam Edelman Sneakers // Sam Edelman Boots // Samantha Willis Earrings // 525 America Cardigan
This time of year there is nothing that tops my wish list more than a cozy sweater.  It's the center and backbone to almost every outfit I wear.  The problem, however, is that a cozy sweater can lend itself to a less than impressive look if it's not done right and that's why having the right pieces and correct styling are very important.  It can take an outfit based around a sweater from boring to stylish just by adding the right pieces to it.

Shoes are a close second on my wish list this time of year and can help take your look from lack luster to cool and cute.  The sneaker option above is perfect for the girl on the go while the black boots can dress her up.  The final touch to any outfit this time of year and what can really set a comfy sweater outfit apart, is adding a touch of glam with jewelry.  Both pairs of earrings are the perfect touch for any daytime look.

The problem I always run into when shopping for others is that I oftentimes want one for myself.  These looks above, while similar, are different enough that I could get away with buying one for her and one for me.  Total win-win if you ask me.

Last but definitely not least, these cute looks are up to 25% off right now!  You can read all the details here.  What are you waiting for?  Get shopping!

UNDERSTANDING THE HAT

Old Navy Flannel // J.Crew Jeans // Madewell Boots (on sale!) // Madewell Sunglasses // WindSor Hat

A few things today, don't you just love a good flannel? I know I do and there's something about this one that makes me want to wear it day in and day out.  I love that it's a bit oversized and the colors are a little unexpected for winter.  It keeps the whole look feeling bright and happy.  Secondly, floppy hats are so confusing to me.  When do you wear them?  Do you take them off when you go inside? Are they supposed to keep you warm? Regardless, I sort of wore this hat with this outfit.  I think it looks cute but it was hard to commit to wearing it all day.  Does anyone else feel that way?!

NICE & NEUTRAL

Forever 21 Sweater // J.Crew Skirt, Also Cute // Madewell Flats // Windsor Hat, Similar // Sunglasses

This outfit is from a few weekends ago when my husband and I spent the weekend away.  On Sunday we spent the day in the cutest little town where the only thing to do there was relax and drink wine, literally.  Three out of four shops were wine shops and so we chose one, got ourselves a glass of wine, and drank it on a perfectly clear afternoon.  I'm pretty sure my husband decided that's where he's going to move, and who could blame him?!
