When my husband and I first moved into our apartment after getting married, we were very fortunate to be given almost all the furniture that we would need.  The room turned out nice but was very eclectic and not a very good representation of our style.  So we finally bit the bullet and purchased a couch, coffee table and a few other items that would create a room that we would love to spend time in.  Below is the inspiration for our room.  Unfortunately, we could not afford all of these items so we found pieces that would fit in our budget and style!

Here's a peak at how our room turned out.

Madewell Blouse // Ily Couture Cardigan // UO Jeans // Hudson Booties // J.Crew Clutch

I went through a phase a couple of summers ago where I would continuously paint my nails.  I bought all sorts of nail polish and religiously painted both my fingernails and toenails.  I don't know why I used to have so much time on my hands but nowadays it seems my toenails are usually chipped to no end. And my fingernails only ever get whatever color I've recently sampled at the store.  All of that to say I am dreading spring because of the sandals that come with it and the subsequent time I'll have to spend painting at least those ten toenails.  So for now I am more than happy about our (first) rain storm of the season and the booties I will continue to wear.

J.Crew Sweater  //UO Skirt // Selima Sunglasses // Madewell Bag // Timex Watch

One of the reasons I love having a blog is because it gives me an excuse to dress in the things I want to wear but don't necessarily have an occasion for.  Sometimes I feel too overdressed for Southern California's relaxed beach style but for some reason, knowing I can put it on the blog gives me a reason for a tulle skirt, and I must say everyone needs a reason for a tulle skirt!  This one just so happened to be under $20 in store!

Ily Sweater // J.Crew Dress // Madewell Flats // J.Crew Bag // Target Watch // Madewell Sunnies

While all of you are willing spring to come I have been willing it to leave.  I finally decided to embrace what we've got and throw on my favorite summer dress.  I'll admit I was a little toasty with the sweater but I couldn't go sleeveless.  I know our "winter" will hit when I'm finally ready for spring but that's how it is every year.

Hope you enjoyed your long weekend!  It sure was nice to have an extra day off if I do say so myself!

 J.Crew Chambray // Madewell Denim // UO Bag // J.Crew Heels // Selima Sunglasses

Since I have short legs pant lengths generally don't work on me.  Which means I either have to roll them or get them hemmed, but let's be honest I'm too lazy to get them hemmed and they never turn out right.  I've therefore resorted to just cutting them at the right length.  I got a little scissor happy with these ones and cut them too short but they'll work.  I kept this outfit simple since we were running a couple of errands.

Also, I love these shoes.  Are the gold?  Are they silver?  Doesn't matter, they work as both.

Handvaerk tee // Tinley Road Skirt, Similar // Hive & Honey Coat // J.Crew Loafers // J.Crew Necklace, Similar

Like I said last week, quality basics are a must.  So here it is again because I just can't keep my hands off of it!  It was the perfect top paired with even more black and leopard loafers.  The high neckline and short sleeves kept this all black ensemble very day time appropriate.  Due to the dropping temps I made sure I had my coat (lined with flannel!) to keep me nice and warm.

One more thing, can we talk about this necklace for a minute?  It's kind of a show stopper.

Zara Dress // Madewell Bag // Madewell Wedges, Similar // Madewell Sunglasses // Watch

I'm a firm believer that everything you wear doesn't have to be the most flattering.  Case in point, this dress.  It was one of those that was cute enough, I don't have anything similar in my closet, and holy moly it was on major sale.  Probably not what should fill my closet but it was the perfect dress for a warm Southern California day plus it required zero thought which is a total bonus in my book.

Since then the temperature has dropped to a measly 62 degrees (burr!) so no more shirt dresses in my neck of the woods :)
