RE-WEAR

Madewell Dress // UO Sweater // J.Crew Belt // Payless Sandals // J.Crew Bag // Ray-Ban // J.Crew, Mexico Rings // Target Watch

These outfits pictures were taken last week and never got posted because the week somehow got away from me.  I don't know why or how but last week flew by and I felt like I didn't have a second of down time (which wasn't true but it sure did feel that way)!  Wore this on one of those days in Southern California where it's too cold to go sleeveless but definitely too hot to wear a sweater.  Also wore this dress here.  Very simple outfit just added a few POC's with my shoes, bag and watch.  Have a wonderful weekend! I am planning on spending as much time outside plus we have a few little projects planned!

MADEWELL FOR THE WIN

Madewell For the Win

It seems to me that time after time Madewell comes out with pieces I want to fill my closet with.  This time was no exception.  I could see myself in all of these items on a trip or in everyday life because they are so cute and easy.  If you're looking for a few new things to add to your wardrobe this summer I suggest you check out their site or store.  You won't leave empty handed I assure you!

All items can be found here!

PLEATS

J.Crew Factory Blouse // Madewell Skirt // Madewell Belt// J.Crew Bag // Gap Sandals // Anthropologie Watch

This is one of those outfits that when I got ready in the morning I thought "Ok, looks good".  Only to realize after taking pictures that a long day of work can make an outfit you thought was cute early in the morning something you really would have rather passed on.  Don't get me wrong, I do love this skirt but the hair is flat and the whole thing is just not working.  Regardless, the pictures are posted because everyday is not a perfect outfit kind of day.  Next time, instead of coming up with the outfit in the morning when I'm in a rush to leave maybe I'll actually try it on the night before.  Probably not, but maybe....

A DOSE OF DIY

Last summer while my soon to be husband and I were planning our wedding, we were also getting things situated for us to move in together.  Yes, that's right, we're old fashioned and didn't move in together until after our wedding.  Anyway, we were extremely lucky because between my two older sisters and my husband's high school job at the good old linens n' things we were pretty well set with almost everything we would need.  One of the only major pieces of furniture we didn't have was a TV stand and with my 40 something inch flat screen we knew we were in need of something for that big boy.  So we went back and forth trying to decide if we should just get something from IKEA since it was in our price range or splurge a little and get something a little nicer and quite a bit out of our range.

Well, lucky for me, since I was on pinterest everyday planning my wedding, I happened upon this pretty yellow buffet.  I saw it and couldn't get it out of my mind so I showed my man and he couldn't either.

I looked and looked hoping to find it somewhere and magically in my price range.  Well, surprise!  I couldn't.  After seeing this we obviously couldn't simply settle for something from IKEA so we got a little crafty and tried a DIY.  I'll fully disclose that neither my husband and I are big DIY people.  While we love the idea of it, neither of us are very patient which I'm pretty sure is the number one prerequisite for doing a DIY.

So... I found something at ReStore that I was pretty sure we would be able to turn into something we would be proud to put our TV on.  Here's the before:

Yes, the handles are hideous and the paint job is tragic but it was a sturdy, well-made piece.  Plus there's lots and lots of storage!  The best part was that I got it for $50!  So we sanded, painted and re-hardwared (DIY'd word, just go with it).  And here's the finished piece!

Taken the day my husband moved in...

And now that it's a little more lived in.

All in all we love how our first DIY turned out (although my husband would have probably chosen a color other than Tiffany Blue) and now we're thinking of something else we can do.  Including paint, hardware and, of course, the piece itself we spent around $100.  Less than what we were looking at IKEA!  It was far easier than I expected, but then again, I didn't think it was going to be easy at all.  So, if you want something that fits your style and also your budget think about doing a DIY.

*I'm thinking of turning Wednesday's into my day without fashion, let me know what you think!

JUST A JUMPER

J.Crew Jumper // Sam Edelman Sandals // J.Crew Bag // J.Crew Bracelets // Selima Sunnies // Anthropologie Watch-Similar

Well. once again I can't say enough good things about the weather this weekend.  Warm without being hot and the added bonus of a slight breeze.  We spent a good majority of it outside, going on walks and sitting outside enjoying some new reading material.  Over the last week we started and finished both seasons of Revenge-oops!  So now of course we feel very lost, hence the reason we each started reading.

Anyway, back to clothes.  Jumper's are comfortable-like acceptable pajamas and make for an easy day of shopping.  I've had this one a long time and just remembered to pull it out again. If you're looking for one, this one and this one from Anthropologie and very cute!

UMM... SKORT?

J.Crew Chambray // Zara Skort // Sam Edelman Sandals // J.Crew Bag // Target Watch // J.Crew Bracelet

This was one of those skirts, I guess I mean skorts (never thought I would utter that word after the 8th grade)... that I justified to myself because I said "oh... I'll probably return it".  So much so I even asked about the return policy just to be certain I would be able to, knowing all the while it would live very well in my closet.  And, I must say I'm glad I kept it, but of course I knew I would all along.

Despite the initial shock of wearing a skort again, I think it's the perfect addition to my summer wardrobe because you can be all wild and free as if you're wearing shorts, yet feel classy and refined because it looks like a skirt.  Kind of like a mullet-business in the front, party in the back.  Another recommended buy!

Happy Memorial Day!

4 EYES, HORSES & GIRLFRIENDS

Madewell Top // J.Crew Jeans // Gap Sandals // J.Crew Bag

Some days just call for a simple T-shirt and jeans.  The glasses (not prescription at all) were just an added accessory, because sometimes it's fun to feel like you're something that your not. In this case, 4 eyes.

This outfit was perfect for a night of mexican food with my two favorite girls, that's you Megan and Melissa!  We spent hours talking and laughing like any good girls night.  Love you guys!

DEEELICIOUS

I apologize for not having a better picture of the after... It got demolished before I had the chance to take one!

I know I don't ever do food posts but... I didn't want to keep this perfect recipe all to myself!  If you can't tell by the title and then the pictures, this little breakfast yum (more like dessert) couldn't be more tasty.  When I saw it I knew I had to make it very soon so I had my fam come over and enjoy it with us.  I of course found it on pinterest (I mean where else?).  It was extremely easy and pretty quick to make.  Here's the recipe:

INGREDIENTS:
5 1/2 cups croissants (torn)
1 1/2 cups blueberries (any fruit would really do)
1 8 oz package cream cheese ( I used light)
1 cup milk
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup sugar

DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees & spray dish with olive oil
2. Add torn croissants to dish
3. Beat together cream cheese (room temp.) with sugar eggs vanilla extract
4. Slowly add milk while still beating
5. Let sit for 10 minutes
6. Cook for 30-40 mins until crunchy on top
7. Sprinkle powdered sugar, serve & enjoy!

*Things I didn't do but think you should: Make sure you beat the cream cheese with sugar, eggs and vanilla before you add the milk.  Don't skip this step it's a bad idea!  If you use a bigger dish it will come out crispier which makes it more delicious!

FLAMINGO

Anthropologie Dress -Cute one if you're into the Flamingo thing // Gap Wedges // J.Crew Bag // J.Crew Belt // Timex Watch // J.Crew Bracelet

Obviously everyone needs a dress with Flamingo's on it....  I once again used my trusty old trick and belted this dress right up.  Sans belt the dress goes a little past my knee which just isn't cute.  Anyway, this is actually the first time I've worn this dress since I got it last year.  Well, more like since my mom bought it for me last year... I love all the color in it, perfect for summer weather!

DAD KNOWS BEST... NOT

J.Crew Top // Gap Pants // Gap Sandal // J.Crew Bag // Anthropologie Watch

Saturday was full of watching Revenge (now officially addicted and I highly recommend getting on board) a baseball game for the best nephew there ever was, and eating vegan food, seriously who knew it could be good?  At the game, my dad let me know he thought my pants looked like pajamas because what else would printed jeans look like?  Also, my nephew won the game ball because like I said he is the best nephew...

I like the idea of mixing prints in outfits but as far as I usually go is floral and stripes.  I think it generally works best when you use similar colors in both prints.  Although my dad might say no to the printed pants, they worked perfectly into my weekend wardrobe.

SANDAL SANDAL

Sandal Must Have

Target // Piperlime // Zara // Madewell // Gap // J.Crew // Old Navy

I've always been a sandal girl, if I could, I would wear them all year long.  But since that's not possible (even in Southern California) I look forward to summer all.year.long. So here are a few in a range of prices that could be worn for many occasions.  Some dressed up and some dressed down.  I would pick a few personal favorites but all seven are actually my favs.  Now buy a sandal and enjoy the sandal weather!

MAXI

J.Crew Sweater // F21 Skirt // J.Crew Bag // Anthropologie Sandals

You know those days when you pretty much just can't stomach the thought of pulling tight jeans up, and then having to feel them all up on you all day?  That day my friend calls for a maxi skirt.  Works like pants cause it covers like pants but man it feels so much better.  When I wore this last week I was reminded why I should wear it much more often.  Try it.
